“Lodestone? That’s a magnetic thing, right?”
“Yes, but no.”
“Polaris?”
“No.”
“...Doctor Polaris?”
“I think Alex fought a Doctor Polaris…”
“Oh, come on!”
“Well, I’m NOT calling myself ‘Superboy’.”
This conversation went on between Connor and his younger siblings Clark and Kara as they walked the streets of New York City on their way to school. As the children of John Kent, who is secretly the Superman, they possess his powers… except for Connor, whose power is full-on magnetic manipulation. They were discussing Connor’s wanting to become a superhero himself, and trying to think up codenames for him. As they turned the corner, an explosion rang through out, emanating from a bank being robbed. Clark wanted to go after the robbers, but Connor held him back and called their father, who sped through the air from his previous location to the bank they described. Superman easily bested the robbers, until the ringleader revealed himself. He was a mutated, purple-skinned man who Superman recognized the voice of. Ever since the Morticacus infection that their associate The Atom first cured, the Justice League had an investigation file on all personnel of the hospital the incident was held in. Rudy Jones, the janitor that was there that day, was the mutated human that stood before the Superman today. Now calling himself Parasite, he attacked Superman and began draining his life energy, making both combatants equal. That’s when Connor noticed a girl Clark and Kara’s age bypassing the police barricade. Parasite noticed this and attacked the girl, but she rebuffed the attack with some sort of incantation! Using her magic, the girl restored Superman’s strength and gave him a shield that protected him from Parasite’s draining. Needless to say, Parasite is defeated and wrapped up in a lead-lined suit for the police to take him in. The girl vanished before Superman got a chance to thank her. A few days later, Clark and Kara meet the girl, Zatanna Zatara, at school, as she is the new student from Africa. The cousins become friends with her and Superman even invites her to try out for the Justice League. Meanwhile, in a school in Salem, MS, Zatanna’s adoptive father and mentor, Doctor Fate, watches through a portal at Superman’s family…

* The Alex that the kids mentioned is Alex DeWitt, the Green Lantern of Earth.
* Parasite was interrogated by Superman about Morticacus, and revealed that the creator of it, and his boss, was Prof. Anthony Ivo, who is currently missing…
* Doctor Fate’s interest in Superman and his family will be explained, along with a reveal of his team, The Shadowpact.
