Description

The Ladybirds (Lady Liberators + Birds of Prey), the world's finest team of all-female superheroes. The original members of the team were Black Bird, the Matron, Beunylo, and She-Nova, who were all mentally controlled by the evil Amorko the Enchanter (Dr. Psycho + Enchantress) and used by him to fight members of the Justice Avengers (Avengers + Justice League). He was defeated and “the Ladybirds” were not mentioned again for the next few months. When Pepper Gordon was kidnapped and was going to be coerced into revealing the true identity of the Iron Bat (Iron Man + Batman), Black Bird and Matron teamed up to rescue her; they them decided to bring back the idea of The Ladybirds as a force of good, and they recruited new members to their cause.

Top Row, Left to Right:
Black Bird, Pepper Gordon, The Matron

Pepper Gordon:
Amalgamation of: Pepper Potts + Barbara Gordon
Real Name: Virginia Gordon
Alias: Perachora (Hera + Oracle)
Biography: Virginia Gordon's father is Victor Gordon (Victor Martinelli + James Gordon), the commissioner of the Gothton Police Department (Boston, MS + Gotham City). Vic was a rookie on the force years ago, helping look after a young Tony Wayne, the future Iron Bat, while investigating the murder of Tony's millionaire parents. Tony and his adoptive father/butler Alfred Jarvis (Edwin Jarvis + Alfred Pennyworth) disappeared some time later, and Vic continued his career in law enforcement, becoming captain of the police department. He later married his high school girlfriend and they had a daughter named Virginia. After an adult Tony Wayne returned to Gothton and assumed control of his late father's company, he learned that Vic had been canned, due to the machinations of his superiors on the force who were secretly working for the Intermaggia (Maggia + Intergang); Tony hired Vic as the head of his headquarters' security and his adult daughter Virginia, affectionately nicknamed “Pepper”, landed a job as Tony's secretary. Recognizing Vic as a good man, Tony used his superhero identity Iron Bat to expose the corrupt cops in the police and get Vic his job back. Iron Bat also gave Vic, now the commissioner, a communication device so they can work on taking down criminals together. Pepper Gordon, still working for Mr. Wayne, was attacked and crippled by the evil Laugh Monger (Iron Monger + Joker) to get back at Tony Wayne and Iron Bat. This was an unfortunate circumstance for Tony to reveal his secret life to Pepper, but she didn't blame him for what happened. Loyal to Iron Bat and his allies, Pepper trained her mind in advanced computer sciences to become Perachora, the all-seeing eye of the superhero community and one of the leaders of an all-female superhero team, the Ladybirds. When the notorious Paul Osborn (Norman Osborn + Paul Westfield) became the director of Task Force S (SHIELD + Task Force X), as a part of the Secret Society of Evil's (Masters of Evil + Secret Society of Super Villains) plans for world domination, he began systematically eliminating the most powerful heroes from the shadows. Not even Iron Bat and his allies were safe, but Pepper discovered that he had created one final contingency before his incarceration: an ergonomically-designed battle armor designed to be operated by Pepper Gordon herself. Codename: BATTALION (Iron Woman + Batgirl)!
Powers: Pepper Gordon is a highly-trained computer programmer and hacker, and she trained her upper body in self defense under the tutelage of Richard Shang (Shang-Chi + Richard Dragon). Pepper's Battalion armor is powered by an arc reactor engine designed to be exodermal, unlike the reactor that powers Tony's artificial heart and armors. The Battalion armor allows Pepper to not only walk, but grants her superhuman strength/speed/stamina/durability/agility/reflexes; the armor is also equipped with flight repulsors, various scanners, wireless computer interface tech, and various weapons such as projectile blades.

Black Bird:
Amalgamation of: Mockingbird + Black Canary
Real Name: Dinah Morse II
Biography: Larry Morse was a police detective who testified against criminal scientist Wizardicus (Dr. Demonicus + Wizard), who was apprehended by Post-WWII speedster hero The Whiz (Whizzer + Flash [Jay Garrick]). Enraged by having his works undone by a normal person, he sent one of his thugs from behind bars to inject Larry’s wife Dinah with a mutagenic compound. This resulted in their newborn daughter, Dinah II, being born with a super-powerful scream. The Morses moved into the country until their daughter could control her powers. In her adult years, the younger Dinah became an agent of the American law-enforcement agency Task Force S. When the TFS teamed up with Justice Avengers, Dinah met the battling bowman Hawk Arrow (Hawkeye + Green Arrow), and she revealed her sonic scream powers to save him. Agent Morse took on the codename “Black Bird” when she joined the JA. She also doubles as a leader of the Ladybirds.

The Matron:
Amalgamation of: Black Widow + The Huntress
Real Name: Helena Romanova
Alias: Natasha Bertinelli, among others...
Biography: Helena Romanova hails from Stalingrad, Russia, born when Russia was still in the communist USSR. Her entire family, who were members of the Russian Mafia, was slaughtered at the hands of Tobias Slug (Slug + Tobias Whale), a young member of the international crime syndicate, the Intermaggia (Maggia + Intergang). When she came of age, Helena joined the USSR's spy agency, the KGB, training under Sal Petrovitch in the dangerous Red Room. When the USSR was dissolved, The Matron (as she was now called) defected to the USA and joined Task Force S. The Matron still serves in TFS, but is also a co-leader of the all-female hero team, the Ladybirds.
Powers: The Matron is an expert spy, assassin, and tactician, with an athletic prowess bordering on superhuman. She uses different concealed weapons in combat, but her preferred weapons are a pair of wrist-mounted hydraulic crossbows (Widow’s Bite + Huntress’ Crossbow). As a spy, the Matron is a master of disguise with several aliases, capable of mimicking any person’s voice and habits.

Bottom Row, Left to Right:

Elektra Wu-San:
Amalgamation of: Elektra Natchios + Sandra Wu-San
Alias: Lady Erynys (Erynys + Lady Shiva)
Biography: Elektra Wu-San and her elder half-sister were born of a prostitute in a poor oriental city. Military operations in the town caused her mother's death, so her elder sister took the baby and they fled to the Mediterranean. A Greek businessman adopted the girls and hired a skilled martial artist to train them in their teenage years to defend themselves. The teacher hired by him was Sensei Stick (Stick + Sensei), a high-ranked member of the League of the Hand (The Hand + The League of Assassins). He had another LotH member kill Elektra Wu-San's sister, driving her resolve for revenge. She joined the LotH for the most advanced training, but her friendship with Sensei Stick's other student Matthew Cross led to them rebelling against the League. After reconnecting with her father, they moved to the city of New Metropolis (New York City + Metropolis); he was assassinated by gangsters working for the Bosspin (Kingpin + Boss Moxie), who framed a hero called Doctor Dare (Daredevil + Dr. Mid-Nite), who Matthew Cross really is. Think Dr. Dare was responsible, Elektra Wu-San delved back into her training and set off to kill him. A killer called Deadeye (Bullseye + Deadshot), another employee of the Bosspin, interfered and stabbed her to death with her own sai. The League of the Hand used their power to resurrect her into a loyal killer at Yao Mo's Tou's (The Mandarin + Ra's Al Ghul) beck-and-call, so she became Lady Erynys (after the Ancient Greek spelling for “Fury”). Her time working to retrain an injured Iron Bat after his spine was snapped by Sunset (Sunset Bain + Bane), so that the LotH could claim his membership, retaught Lady Erynys humanity and she betrayed them once more. Elektra Wu-San is free to live her life in the name of justice, and she joined the superhero team The Ladybirds.
Powers: Above-human strength/speed/stamina/durability/reflexes/senses/aim/agility; mastery of many forms of martial arts; use of stealth, disguise, and intimidation; mastery of many weapon styles, though mainly uses dual sai.

Thundurion:
Amalgamation of: Thundra + Alpha Centurion
Real Name: Lyra Aelius
Biography: Centuries ago, an irradiated alien capsule crashed onto Earth. Burning up in the atmosphere, the capsule was split in two; one part landed in Ancient Egypt, which gave a warrior and his lover the power of reincarnation (they eventually were reborn as the heroes Wingspan [Hank Pym + Hawkman] and Wasp Girl [Janet Van Dyne + Hawkgirl]), and the other part landed in the Roman Empire. A slave train of captured women were exposed to the radiation and they gained amazing strength and immortality. They escaped Rome and formed their own secret society; while we called them the Amazonians, they called themselves the Femturions (Femizons + Centurions). The Femturions existed for centuries, living hidden in the rainforests of South America, waiting for the perfect time to strike and conquer the world of man. The child of one of the Femturion's finest warriors and her male slave, Lyra Aelius was born 1800 years ago and has since became the most powerful warrior of this secret society, the Thundurion. After the leader of the Femturions, the Contessa Superia (Superia + Contessa Del Portenza), had disappeared after Super-Soldier (Captain America + Superman) foiled their plans to kill all men with a plague, she returned almost a year later with the power to reinstate the military might of the Femturions. Lyra discovered that her leader had birthed a child for the man called the Green Skull (Red Skull + Lex Luthor), and that was a betrayal towards their beliefs. Thundurion betrayed the Femturions in kind by relaying the coordinates of their fortress to Super-Soldier (however, Green Skull got hold of this info first and used it to nuke them). Without a home, Lyra traveled the Earth in her flight-ship, learning about human society and learning to accept men as her equal, not as her slaves or her enslavers. Now a hero to all mankind, male and female, Thundurion is a skilled and respected hero both on her own and with the Ladybirds.
Powers: Longevity; superhuman strength/stamina/durability/reflexes/senses/healing; skilled combatant; highly intelligent; use of an unbreakable chain as a weapon.

Beunylo:
Amalgamation of: Brunnhilde (The Valkyrie) + Belyllioth
Real Name: Pronounced: “Beau-Nil-Oh”
Biography: The lord of one of the Nine Circles of Hell have taken an interest in the immortals called the Amazardians (Asgardians + Amazons), and has been harvesting their souls upon their deaths for centuries. The lord demon Hathish (Satannish + Dalkriig-Hath) seeks to create an army of Amazardian phantoms to escape Hell and claim other realms as his dominion. When the Amazardian warrior from Norn-Mighdall (Nornheim + Bana-Mighdall) who was controlling the Torment Armor (Destroyer Armor + Shim'Tar) accidentally attacked himself while fighting Thunder Woman (Thor + Wonder Woman), it resulted in psychological trauma that later caused him to lash out and kill Karnemis (Karnilla + Artemis), Queen of Norn-Mighdall in a stupor. Thunder Woman followed Karnemis' spirit to Hathish's realm to free her and was horrified to discovered the souls of her fellow Amazardians in such torment. Hathish's right-hand and lover, the demoness general Beunylo, failed to capture Thunder Woman and was sentenced to torture while being replaced by Karnemis, albeit against the warrior queen's will. Thunder Woman rescued Beunylo to take on the demon lord and his imps. After reaching Hathish's lair, they were too late to stop him from raping Karnemis (like every other woman's soul he spied in his territory). Hathish was already a powerhouse, but the centuries of harnessing the souls of Amazardians made him even greater. He killed Thorana, but her soul wouldn't go that quietly; as he absorbed her soul and used her power to wield the Enchanted Flail, the Flail itself attacked Hathish. The spirits of the Amazradian women he had raped were incensed to break their shackles and beat the crap out of their “husband”. In the end, Beunylo freed the souls of all those in Hathish's circle of Hell, allowing them to pass into the Fifth Sphere of Heaven. Thunder Woman and Karnemis returned to the mortal plain and Thorana's father King Hippodin (Odin + Hippolyta) worked with the angel Numriel (Numinus + Zauriel) to make Beunylo the guide of dead Amazardians into the underworld; the just would enter heaven and the guilty would be her prisoners in her circle of Hell, suffering right alongside Hathish. Beunylo also visits the mortal plain from time to time, and joined the Ladybirds.
Powers: Superhuman speed/stamina/strength/durability/agility/senses; immortality; accelerated healing; death sensing; teleportation; mystical metal claws worn on fingers, where the index ones can extend as long as swords; hellfire projection; rides an immortal bat-winged horse that can cross dimensional barriers.

She-Nova:
Amalgamation of: She-Hulk + Jade
Real Name: Jennifer-Lynn Walters
Alias: Green Nova (Nova + Green Lantern), She-Giant
Biography: In the 1930s, Dr. Phineas Horton discovered an alien artifact, which he used to create a powerful sentient android that became the heroic Human Lantern (Jim Hammond + Alan Scott). Exposure to the alien artifact also affected the biology of Horton and his lab assistants. These mutations were ultimately benign, and were passed down to Dr. Horton’s two daughters, his only children; Jessica Horton married Air Force pilot Brian Jordan, and Jenny Horton married sheriff Bill Walters. All of Dr. Horton’s descendants inherited the mutation, but only two so far have been able to harness it. Bruce Jordan, son of Jessica and Brian, realized his inherent mutation when he survived the gamma bomb detonation that contributed to his transformation into the Green Giant (Hulk + Green Lantern [Hal Jordan]). When he was visiting his cousin Jennifer-Lynn Walters, a newspaper photographer in Loshaven, California (Los Angeles + Bludhaven), she was gunned down in her home by gangsters she helped expose in the paper. Green Giant smashed the criminals, and rushed Jenny-Lynn to the hospital. The doctors accepted Bruce’s blood for a transfusion to save Jenny’s life; Bruce, after studying his own genetics, knew that if Jennifer-Lynn didn’t have the same genetic quirk as him, the gamma-irradiated blood transfusion would have killed her. While recovering soundly in the hospital, Jenny was attacked by more thugs, one of whom tried to rape her. That’s when her new abilities manifested, and she used her newfound strength and energy powers to defeat her assailants. The stress of this caused her to go on a rampage, which her cousin, as Green Giant, stopped. Bruce took Jenny to the planet Oaxan (Xandar + Oa), HQ of the Green Nova Corps (Nova Corps + Green Lantern Corps), and they helped her control her powers. Jenny became Earth’s first female Green Nova, also known as She-Nova, a member of the Justice Avengers and the Ladybirds. She also dated her fellow Green Nova Rich Rayner (Rich Rider + Kyle Rayner).
Powers: Superhuman strength/speed/stamina/durability/senses/healing. Manipulation of the green light spectrum, allowing her to fly, survive in space and underwater, translate any language, communicate with her fellow Green Novas, and create “solid-light” constructs that look and function like anything she can imagine.

Lady Punishunter:
Amalgamation of: Lynn Michaels as Lady Punisher + Kate Spencer as Manhunter
Real Name: Katherine Michaels
Biography: Kate Michaels is the District Attorney of New Metropolis; when she was still a beat cop, she was attacked by a serial rapist but was saved by the Punishunter, the vigilante identity of former public defender and Vietnam veteran Frank Shaw (Frank Castle + Mark Shaw). When the Punishunter was rumored to be dead, the police confiscated his equipment from the only safehouse they could find of his. A captain of industry was accused of killing children, but he killed anyone that would have testified against him by hiring the young villain Orochi (Coat of Arms + Copperhead), so he got off; Kate took Frank's confiscated tech and used it to barely defeat Orochi. With the villain's testimony, the child killer was finally in prison, and Kate Michaels embraced her new role as Lady Punishunter. She later joined The Ladybirds.
Powers: Above-average strength/stamina/durability/speed/reflexes/agility/senses/aim; use of torture and intimidation to complete the mission; computer skills; access to portable cache of advanced alien weapons and conventional weapons.
